Maenam beach excites with an excellent view of the neighboring island of Koh Phangan. The beaches themselves are filled with shells and  other reminders of life in the sea as well as boulders and rock formations. The waters are as calm as the beaches are quiet. The perfect place to relax and regain strength. In and around Maenam you will not yet find any noisy bars or clubs. The original village was founded by Hunanese immigrants and a strong Chinese influence can be found in the architecture of some more than 75 years old wooden houses. The town is smaller and not as interesting as Bophut Village. But it does have a compatible charm.

All the accommodation is directly on the beach and is much superior to what is available in Bophut. It ranges from long or short-term bungalows to the worlds first class Santibury with its 18 hole international standard golf course. Also you will find a growing number of good restaurants and businesses on the main road. Located in the middle of the beach, the village has two connecting roads running down to a pier, a jumping off point for the ferries to Ko Phangan and Ko Tao.

Most of the restaurants, dive shops and travel agents are concentrated in this area. Highway 4169 parallel to the beach is lined with supermarkets, restaurants, clinics, stores, restaurants, bars, shops and travel agents in concrete not wooden style shop-houses. There you will find also high quality holiday and residential home developments and a growing community of long-term visitors, who appreciate the quiet contemplative life which Maenam offers.
