Koh Samui Bophut beach

Bophut beach is located in the north of Samui and not far away from Samui's famous landmark the "Big Buddha" and only 5 minutes away from the airport. The area of Bophut and the neighboring beaches and villages are a good compromise for those who do not want to deal with the hustle and bustle of the big tourist centers Chaweng and Lamai.
The beach itself is about two
kilometers long and consists of white sandy shoreline fringed by
coconut palms leaning over the sea. The sand is not as fine as
some of the other beaches but the calm waters of the bay
make this a popular spot for water sport activities, as it is
one of the few places on Samui, where you can rent jet skies and
speed boats for water skiing. Stretched along the main
road you will find many small shops and restaurants. Nobody
knows why, but Bophut is traditionally the gathering point
for French residents and tourists on Koh Samui. so you will find
a wide selection of French Cuisine, trendy fashion and French
owned dive shops.
The "pearl" of Bophut is at no doubt the
"Fisherman Village" how it is nowadays called. It is located at the old Bophut
Pier from where every morning the diving and snorkeling boats leave to Ko Tao.
It is one of the oldest villages on the island and many of the houses are still
in their original shape. There you will find a typical Thai shop selling rice,
fruits, kitchen supplies, gasoline and everything thinkable and unthinkable,
right beside a fancy shoe shop with the latest Italian fashion.
Starting from the pier, you can follow a small street along the beach where you will find the perfect restaurant or small bars for a real romantic dinner and evening. Most of the restaurants provide an excellent choice of fresh seafood (at reasonable prices), served on terraces right above the water with a stunning view to the neighboring island of Ko Pa Ngan.
